Mindfulness
Tutors incorporate exercises based on principles of Mindfulness-based stress reduction into sessions.
We open and close each tutoring session with a breathing and grounding exercise, and incorporate powerful resources like The Stress Reduction Workbook for Teens (Biegel), The Reverse Coloring Book (Norton), and guided meditations from Plum Village.
Promoting mental clarity enhances focus, retention, and overall learning effectiveness, and we have witnessed students make incredible academic and personal growth from small (but consistent) investments in mindfulness.
Our Approach
Our tutors speak with the student and family to understand academic goals and challenges. Tutors then provide a comprehensive content and skills assessment in order to establish baselines and identify knowledge/skill gaps. This baseline will be used to subsequently show evidence of student growth and achievement.
Tutors produce a tailored plan of study based on each student’s needs and aspirations. All study plans incorporate monthly progress checks to assess the efficacy of the tutoring.
