Short Story Skill Builders
Love Reading
Over the course of 10 sessions, students develop a love for reading as they conduct close studies of classic and contemporary short stories.
Literary Analysis
Students learn the basics of literary analysis and to identify the literary techniques authors use to bring stories to life.
Persuasive Writing
Students will learn the structures used to write persuasively at the paragraph and essay level. Just as students learn genre characteristics of different types of fiction, they will also learn the specific ways to persuasively express ideas in writing.
Students are asked to transform thoughts and ideas from class discussions into semi-formal writing assignments completed as homework between classes.
